Study Spaces on Campus

Within Rutherford McCowan and Maxwell buildings there are a number of quiet study spaces available, which are open for all students to use. For these, there is no booking required, just first come, first served.

In order to book private rooms for study, please contact the dumfries facilities team directly on Dumfries-facilities@glasgow.ac.uk with your requirements (date and time, duration, number of people). Please note that if the space allows more than the number you are booking for, we may allocate more than one booking per space.

The library in the College building also has a number of quiet spaces. For these, there is no booking required, just first come, first served. It’s on Level 2, just at the top of the stairs as you head to UWS. If it’s locked, students can just come and ask at the Info Point in the Library or ask along at the UWS Reception Desk. In addition to the tables there are 4 study booths. Eduroam wi-fi is available too.

Please note that you should always book a room if its in Rutherford McCowan or Maxwell, as these are often used by staff and it avoids us asking you to move to a new space if you are settled.

The computer labs are intended to be quiet spaces for students to work and if you are looking for more of a social space then there are various areas of both Rutherford McCowan and Maxwell for this including the Cafe, Snug (outside of the cafe) and the main atrium.
